Concrete repair services are required when concrete surfaces have been damaged due to external factors. It is also necessary during the construction of new structures as well as repairing old structures. There are various methods of repairing concrete. Some of these methods are the following:
– Laminated Concrete Repair: This is a concrete repair method that uses synthetic material, often polystyrene, to bond the exposed aggregate layers of concrete. This synthetic material provides a strong but flexible plastic coating. This coating can withstand extreme weather conditions and does not chip easily, thus making this a long lasting repair method.
– Galvanized Concrete Repair: This is another popular concrete repair method that involves using zinc in place of aluminum for curing concrete. In this method, a steel coil is placed inside the base area of the concrete slab. Zinc is a highly effective barrier and prevents water seepage into concrete, thereby eliminating crack problems.
– Reinforced Concrete Construction: It is an advanced form of concrete construction where the basic structure is reinforced with rebar. It is used for extensive structures such as dams and skyscrapers. The metal reinforcement built right into the soil improves the structural integrity of the building. It also prevents the external corrosion of metal parts.
– Troweled Access Concrete Repair: This method includes two steps. First, the troweled equipment is removed from the surface. The troweled part is then lifted up off the surface by attaching a cable to the front of the troweled piece. Then, the concrete surface is prepped by dipping it into a chemical solution that forms a protective layer against future damage. After this, the slabs are leveled and ready to be troweled again. This process can be used on either smooth or textured surfaces.
As you can see, troweled crack repair has several benefits over other more common types of repair methods. For instance, it is less expensive. Because it doesn’t use any chemicals, there are no harmful side effects and your concrete cracks don’t get as deep as they would if you used other repair techniques.
Trowelable Concrete Repair: In case you need a more elaborate concrete fix, then a self-leveling crack filler may be needed. These are typically used in cases when a single slab of concrete needs to be repaired, but the structure has too many layers for the typical trowel application. In such cases, the trowel is simply used to fill up the cracks; self-leveling mix can also be used to repair deeper cracks without using a roller.
Concrete Repair Fixtures: There are some concrete repair fillers that can be used even in cases where the damage is small. For instance, mixing up concrete and sand can form a putty like material that can be patched into cracks. Once the material is fixed into place, a binder is added to make the material hard enough to use. The downside to this kind of filler is that you will need to scrape and repair any edges or corners before applying the final coat of finish to the entire area. Another downside to this type of concrete repair mix is that you must mix the appropriate amount or else you will have an uneven repair job.
Concrete Repair Fixtures: The troweled and bended pieces of concrete material have also found their way into the world of self-leveling mixes. In these cases, the troweled material is laid on a vinyl pallet and a bended edge of vinyl is inserted between the two slabs. After a while, a belt is run over the entire setup, which wrinkles the material slightly. A vinyl patcher machine is used to straighten the slabs after a few days.
